French Open Round 2 Day 4

DISCLAIMER: These picks are for entertainment purposes, we do take them, but this is NOT a guarantee.

As another rain delay occurs for the third day in a row we patiently wait as players look to fight through the draw in these unordinary conditions at Roland Garros (aka the French Open for my non tennis readers). This tournament is meant to be played in the Spring when the clay is dry and the air and temperature is warmer. Players from all over the draw have expressed their concerns with the conditions via interviews. We have two picks for Day 3 for our DG Subscribers!

Fritz (-200)

Fritz faces off versus Moldova’s best tennis player Radu Albot. Fritz holds the head to head versus Albot (1-0) only dropping 5 games in their last and only encounter on hardcourt in Mexico last August. During the match, Fritz won a larger percentage of points on his SECOND serve than the percentage won on Albot’s FIRST serve. Fritz wins this one. Fritz has also beaten country men Tennys Sandgren (2-0) who just defeated Albot on the 21st during Hamburg Qualifications last week.

Bublik (-167)

Kazakhstan Alexander Bublik is coming off his first top 10 win in his career after slamming the world #9 Gael Monfils in 4 sets. The big serving Russian won 78% of first serve points against Monfils. Bublik will be facing Italian ATP #46 Lorenzo Sonego here in the second round. Sonego was forced into 5 sets versus Ecuador’s #156 Emilio Gomez. Bublik has spent nearly half the time in his comfortable win versus a top 10 player as opposed to Sonego who spent over 4 hours versus a player outside the top 100. Both are big servers with Bublik having more of a shot making ability. Sonego better be on his toes as we’d love to see Bublik drop the underhand serve again. Bublik wins and prevails to the third round in France.
